hi...

i'va installed win2000 quite a while back and it works great but i would like to install win me onto another partition.. and dual boot.. is it still possible?? or do i have to install win me first followed by win 2000.. i dun like this option coz i would like my win 2000 to occupy the first partition ie C: and i dun want to use a third party software like parition magic and such..

any suggestions?

On your windows 2000 boot menu, choose the second option (should be DOS, on mine its windows 98), and once it boots, install ME like you normally would.
If you wanted to do it the other way around, there is an option in the win2k setup to dual boot the machine.

You can install winME as usual, then pop in your win2k disc and do a repair installation... that should let you dual-boot between the 2 OSs

I believe there is a command option for the WinME setup program for it to edit the boot.ini file for you. I'm not sure what it is, but it should be documented somewhere.

Try doing a search on the threads to see if someone posted it elsewhere. This is a pretty common topic and should be easy to find.

Install WinME with the command line setup /ntldr. It will not corrupt Win2K's MBR and it will automatically add itself to Win2K's boot menu.
