Dual booting and windows 7 problem

OK so I was impressed with Ubuntu so I downloaded it and burned it to a DVD and then booted into the Live CD and installed it using the first option since I have 150 GB of free storage and after the installation finished I told me to restart and so I did but after that there was a blank screen and it didn't really turn off just a blank screen so I manually restarted it but when I start the PC there's no option to boot into it so I downloaded EasyBCD but still can't find an option to boot into it so what should I do now?

You can still boot to Win7? Sounds like Grub didn't get installed. I don't know remember what Ubuntu's installer looks like, so you may have had a choice to make. Probably the easiest thing is just try again, overwrite the Ubuntu install, and make sure you install a bootloader.

How can I make sure the bootloader is there? and yes I can boot to windows

The instructions looks reasonable, but I prefer using Grub as my primary bootloader. I think you're running into problems with Grub. You may be able to fix what you have without reinstalling, so go over the guide, and see where what you did deviated from that. Or just reinstall following the guide.

Btw, if you haven't backed up important data, do that before anything else. Things usually go well, but when you're messing with partitions, bad things can happen. You don't want to take something fun and turn it into a tragedy.

Did you can install ubuntu on a separate or same hard drive? Sounds like you did second.

No on the same HDD I heard maybe it's because of UEFI

I am a little late to the party, but here is my take on this.

I just went through the same thing. I went into the bios and turned off UEFI and that took care of the problem. I do understand some motherboards don't have the option to turn it off though.

While it can be done, it's not worth the hassle, just get a separate drive and put win7 on one and linux on the other and you can use the bios to dual boot.

I fought for days trying to get it to work and gave up. While it can be done, it's very tricky. Windows 7 is very fragile in this respect.

Oh my goodness, I should really learn how to read. :-\ Below is the rubbish I wrote prior to this realization:

No and no; UEFI BIOS will mostly mess up with Windblow$ 8 and all of the stupid fancy options, like, quick boot, secure boot - or whatever it's called (not even gonna go there 🙂); hopefully it's not a real problem, and just a case of Grub2.

What usually happens is: 1) that if the Windblow$ copy is illegal and using some soft of loader to boot - Grub2 will get scr3wed up (note: DAZ is fine); 2) also, "since I have 150 GB of free storage" - will work best, if there's no partition, but only free space; this should've been done by removing the free partition from Windblow$ Computer Management prior to install.

Anyway, this can probably be fixed. Hopefully:

Edit: Oh, for quick repair: boot from the Windblow$ DVD and go to Recovery Console and do:

bootrec /fixmbr

Have you tried holding down certain keys while booting? I think I've seen this issue before and if I remember right you should try disabling AHCI in the bios.
