That's what I figure as well. I don't remember if I have "Restore" enabled or not in that drive...IF I can get into the OS...and IF the restore point set...I can just jump back a day...if the restore point set....:|

The PATA drive seems to be good. Installing XP on it now.
I'll reconnect my SATA drive once Windows is done with the installation.

Boot up
Reboot into the BIOS
reboot
reboot into the BIOS
reboot

All to get back to where you were.

Boot. choose an OS
reboot. choose an OS

MS makes it much easier to switch OSs

I run W7 and two copies of XP.

Most BIOS have the option to hit an F key and choose your boot priority. You don't need to enter the BIOS settings to change your boot priority. If you are like me, 99% of my boot is with my default Windows 7 hard drive. The only thing I have to do is hit the F12 key during boot to change to my Windows XP hard drive. Pretty darn simple. I had lousy experience with the MS boot manager a few years ago. Never again.

Yes, F8 gives me the option of which drive I want to boot from. It's not actually entering the BIOS.
I still have to figure out why I'm getting a BSOD with the PATA drive. I'm not sure if it's a wonky driver...or if it's because I went back into the BIOS and set the SATA config to AHCI again...That MIGHT be part of the issue.

XP is much like an old man in that it doesn't deal with change well in any area, even those that shouldn't have an affect on it. =)

I kinda am too, but I've also decided that I dislike fighting with the shit that is XP more than the work it took to change to Win7. =)

That and I'm a Linux user at home so my exposure to Windows is limited only to work. =)

Well, it looks like the AHCI setting is the problem.

I set the SATA config to IDE/Enhanced, and it seems to be working fine...for now.

Once again, I spoke too soon. I rebooted into Vista...and BSOD again.

This morning however, it booted just fine.
