dual-boot win2k/red hat issues

i have successfully installed win2k & red hat onto mockingbird (see signature). win2k resides on a fat32 partition (/dev/hdb1), which is followed by the redhat boot partition (/dev/hdb2), the root partition (/dev/hdb5) & the swap (/dev/hdb6).

i have installed LILO to the 1st sector of the boot partition, & copied the boot image into the root directory of my win2k partition (c:\). i have modified the "linux.bin/bootsect.lnx" file (depending on who's directions i followed) so that it is now a system file, & modified "boot.ini" so that the last line points ntloader to the said linux boot image in the c:\ directory.

bottom line: i have to use a boot disk to get into redhat. selecting the option in the ntloader will result in a series of binary code running down the screen until i hit ctrl+alt+del. booting into win2k using ntloader works fine & booting into redhat using the boot floppy works fine, too.

any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
 
Why don't you use boot from MBR instead of first sector of the boot partition? I think if you use the first boot sector, you won't be able to choose with O/S you want to run when you turn on your system. It has to be install to the MBR one not the first sector one. I am not pro with Linux, but I did this with RH before so you might want to ask other people's comment but if you could try the MBR, I think it would solve your problem.
