Dual Boot: Win2000 + WinXP

I have currently Windows2000 and when installing years ago it I left 10GB unpartitioned. My question is how would I setup a dual boot including WinXP onto that 10GB space? Would it be as simple as popping in the WinXP CD and an option being available for dual boot option in the setup?

Just being precautionary as I don't want to wipe over anything important.

Whenever I've ever installed a new OS in the past, I almost always dual boot it with my current running OS. IIRC, what you're suggesting is what I did with 2000 and XP. Luckily, you already have a separate partition. XP otherwise wouldn't be able to resize the partitions. XP should recognize that you have 2000. Just make sure you don't upgrade your existing OS which will probably be the default. Then, select the extra partition for the new install.

With Windows, it's better to install the older OS first and then newer. Again, that's what you're doing.

10 GB should be enough for WinXP.

When you start the install WinXP would find the space and you can choose to install the OS into it.
