Dual boot Win 7 & 8. Black Screen

Have dual boot and when screen comes up to select one or the other, it is the black screen with option to select Win 7 or Win 8, then another line again for Win 7 which does not work but relates to problems. All was OK when I had ssd for Win 8 and hdd for win 7 but when I changed the hdd to a ssd, this was the result. When Win 7 was loaded, it did not have SP1 but a disk received from Microsoft permitted it to be updated but this was the problem thereafter. Any ideas to correct?
