Dual Boot w2k and xp?

I just added win xp to my system and I had a prior setup of w2k which booted fine before I added xp. After I loaded xp and got most of the drivers installed I got a wild hair and tried to boot to w2k. Well it went through the boot up sequence and right after the log on box comes up the system reboots. I tried several times with same results. So I booted w2k to safe mode and checked the logs and found on each time I tried to boot there was several errors with the "service control manager" like 5 each time I tried to boot and a couple of "Dcom" errors.

Did the xp install overwrite some files on the W2k system that would cause this? If so how do I solve this?

Some particulars: My w2k is on C drive on fat32 and my xp install is on drive E on ntfs. Also E drive is on my new raid.

Thanks for the help.

I just like to have the other working since I am used to it. I am a weekend upgrader and it usually takes me a couple of weeks to get a new install up and running just the way I like. I would like to use 2000 for my work until I get xp geared up and all apps installed.

To answer your question I don't really need it I am just trying to figure out what happened.

So there is your answer. Do you have any for me? ;)

SemperFi,

Yeah, XP probably hosed your W2K. The reason is that both OS'es are hardcoded to use the same Program Files folder. XP probably overwrote some stuff in your W2K Program Files folder.

To dual boot W2K and WinXP, you'll need two partitions. See Q306559 for more information.

Thanks noggin I am going to check out that article right now But each os is on its own drive. I think that qualify's as their own partition. ;)
