Hi everybody,
I've been having a slight problem with my single drive SATA Raptor (see topic SATA Raptor 36GB on ASUS A7N8X - E DELUXE, posted 07/09/2004) therefore i ordered a second 36GB Raptor so that i can create a RAID0 set.
My aim is to setup a dual boot system with WinXP and Fedora Core 2 but since this will be my first attempt with RAID any help is more than welcome.
I need to mention that i don't have Partion Magic or any sort of this kind of software and i always format/partition my drives with fdisk.
How should i go about the task?
ASSUMPTION
1) Physically install the drives
2) Bootup from MS-DOS floppy and fdisk format the drives
3) Restart, enter Silicon Image BIOS and create RAID0
4) Continue with Windows XP installation (F6 and S for SATA drivers)
5) Partition the 76GB logical drive when prompted
6) Finish off Windows installation
7) Go about Linux (FC2) installation
Is the above sequence right/wrong? Has anyone achieved the above desired setup successfully??
ASUS A7N8X - E DELUXE board rev. 1.01 BIOS ver 1009
Thermaltake Silent Boost 360W PSU
Corsair 2 X CMX512 PC3200LX
AMD AthlonXP 3000+ FSB 400 L2512kb
ASUS Radeon 9600XT
Creative Audigy Player!
2 X Western Digital SATA Raptor 36GB
Western Digital EIDE Caviar SE 40GB
LiteON SOHC-5232K Combo EIDE
Many thanks,
