I'm building a new computer. I mistakenly installed winxp in partition D. So I install winxp again without formating partition D. After winxp reboot it show the dual boot screen and ask me which one I want to boot. I boot from drive C. After I got in I quick formatted partition D, but now I still get the dual boot screen. Am I better off wiping everything and start all over? How do I get rid of the dual boot screen? (I haven't try to see what happen if I choose to boot from the supposedly nonexistance Winxp)

Tried to access the phantom boot, it just say that the system files can't be found or corrupted.

Give this a try:

Start/Run
msconfig
OK
BOOT.INI
Check All Boot Paths
