Finally got my XP(32bit)and Vista(64bit) installed in my new rib today.everything run flawless.but after i install an appplication Name Vistaboot PRO, it totally mess up my partitions.
What happen here is , My C drive contains XP and My D drive contains Vista, after i install that VISTABOOT PRO ,then a reboot that both OS wan't find their own loader file.so i use the vista's disc to repair the vista boot file and got my XP back on track. However, now my D drive became to where the XP located, and the Vista got move over to C:\,and somehow, under XP, i got my my xp back to C drive .
It seems like which OS that i enter that will be located @ C drive.(1st come 1st serve ?)
so i am getting so confused .
Any help for this will be very greatful !!

simple!
when xp loads it loads as C: and therefore vista is D:
when vista loads it loads as C: and xp as D:
this is because of vista's boot loader, it simply wants the os loaded to be the C: partition, which would be correct, so there really isnt a prob.

btw vista's boot loader is capable of managing the os boot menu so VistabootPro isnt really needed, as far as dual boot sys.

lots of info at the site where you downloaded vbp, have a look over there.

Why did you even need Vistaboot for? When you installed XP first Vista should have recognized xp and created the necessary bootloader.

Vista boot may have messed up the drive letters, make sure you assign the proper drive letter corresponding to the vista and xp in vistaboot.

I only used Vistaboot because I had vista first and installed XP later, I then used vistaboot to fix the boot loader.

Boot via Vista DVD
Select Repair Your Computer
Select Vistal vol
Select Startup Repair
(no notice of finding an error)
Reboot per prompt

Boot into Vista
Install VistaBootPro v3.1 beta
Do the BCD backup
Select "Manage OS Entries"
Select "Add new op system entry"
Select "Windows Legacy"
Enter a name (to show in the Vista boot mgr menu)
Select drive letter E:
Select Apply

Reboot
Select XP op system from the Vista boot mgr menu

good luck you may have to copy NTLDR and NTDETECT from your xp disk if these get lost somewhere
