dual boot problem

I have 2 hd, 20gb and 30gb with 2 partitions on each drive. I tried to dual boot with WinXP one one drive, and win98 on the other, but for some reason, i cannot set both partitions with OS on them active at the same time using Partition Magic. Any ideas on how to fix this, because I cannot figure out what i am doing wrong. I installed XP first, then 98 on the second drive while the first one was disconnected, because that was the only way i could get it to work. Now whenever i boot up, it automatically goes into XP because the 98 partition cannot be set active.

Any help is appreciated...thanks

You shouldn't have disconnected the drives.

Only 1 partition can be active....both Win98 and WinXP will place a few boot files on the active partition, regardless of where you actually install the OSes to.

You also need to install WinXP first. No need to use Partition Magic.

I suggest you clean the whole lot and start again. Have all drives connected, and then install Windows 98. Windows 98 DOES NOT need to be on C:. Once you have installed Win98, install WinXP, to a different partition. WinXP will automatically set up the boot menu for you.
