Dual Boot of XP

I had configured my PC to multi-boot two copies of XP Pro on seperate partitions and this worked fine without any problems. My problem is that later on down the road I did a clean install on one of these partitions and now when I boot the sytem, I no longer get the option to choose which copy to boot.

In the system Startup and Recovery page, there is only one option under the "Default operating system:" box and there is only a mention of one OS in the boot.ini file. Any suggestions on what to do to make XP detect the other boot partition?

If I were to install ANOTHER copy of XP on a different drive, would my system start giving me the option to boot either of the 3?

I know this sounds like a strange idea, but I'm buying a new hard drive that I'm going to put a clean install on and the old drive will eventually be used for media storage. I'd rather not delete the old XP partition for awhile in case my new hard drive turns out to be a dud. At the same time, I also would like to keep the other XP copy (the second copy on my old drive) because I have a use for it if I can get my computer to let me boot to it.

What happened was that the new install of windows xp over-wrote the master boot record. Had you precious had installed a third party (ie, not a os booter coming from windows) os booter to give you the choice of booting ether operating systems?
