i want to use XP for some graphic progs, but i have a lot stuff that still needs 9x.
so i was considering a dual boot, but i really dont want to partition my drive either (30g). i want to keep XP entirely seperate.
i have an old 1.2g layin around and i figured i could format that to the NTFS and install the prog to the other (FAT32).
there wont be any probs with this setup will there ?

this is probably kinda abnormal, but its a mental thing i have :). its more organized to me.
and if something gets screwy with XP, or i dont want/need it anymore it'll be easier to get rid of.

I suppose you can. Setup the small hd as slave and install XP on that. XP will picked 98 on its start up menu itself. But I don't think installing XP on a 1.2g hd is a good idea. Their are plenty partition resizing tool out there.
