dual boot equals big mess

okay guys, here is the prob.
i run a dual boot (win2k/winME) system. i installed a win tv go card to run cable tv on the monitor while doing e-mail etc...
the card is compatible with both o/s's. it runs fine in ME but the system wont even boot in 2k with the card in. i tried booting to the install cd but the system hangs on "checking hardware configuration". so then i tried the start up disks, no luck at all.
is there anything short of formatting the win 2k partition to do here?
system=
win2k/winME, office XP (sp2 on win2k, all patches on ME)
amd duron 750 oc'd to 794 (wow)
biostar m7vkb (w/ via chipset and latest 4 in 1 drivers)
256mb generic ram
20 gb hdd
santa cruz sound
32mb tnt2 video (whoopee)
and all the little goodies

i'm ready to blow the 2k partition away but any advice would be much appreciated.

W2k has a conflict with the software.
Try to boot up in SAFE mode and uninstall the software. Then undo the device, install the software, then boot into w2k.
This method has worked for me with similar problems, but that is my limit on expertise.

Also when you boot up, select the F8 option and then select W2k. That is how you get to Safe mode.

thankyou for the reply.
i will try to f8 and go into safe mode, i havent tried that yet. but i did however try to f8 and go into last good configuration, etc.., and still no boot. also i was never able to install the card in win 2k, only in ME. so therefore i never got to officially install the board on 2k. i have partition magic but i dont want to start over. another thing is if i take the card out i boot into 2k no prob. the card says 2k compatible all over but ....

I'm going to try to put FreeBSD on my D: drive soon next to Win2k. Mmm.....messing with my MBR and LiLo and all that crap......I will soon be making many a "Heppme" posts.

😕 after reviewing my options i guess i have a few. first would be to update to the newest (4.32) via drivers. if that doesnt work i can start up 2k using the start up disks (i have to take the tv card out to do this) and after i have started 2k (during the pc reading the disks) i will slip the card in. dont try this one at home kiddies! but this is the only way i can get 2k to come up with this board in. after that i can do a full (clean!) install, removing existing program files and reinstalling them. the only thing i will need to replace will be my service pack 2 and some registry tweaks (i hope). i will use the fdisk/format for the last option. well i have three options, add or take away from this list as needed. thanks everyone!😉
