Dual Athlons... When?

I've got upgrade fever. I need. I must have new computer parts. I have a fever. I have. I....

Everyone is saying end of Oct for the release of 760 boards, but so far, I haven't seen any reviews of multiple CPU boards, or of ones using regular SDRAM. When can I expect to see these boards available, at a resonable price?

does 760 even support reg sdram? why would you want to use that anyway? Dual is set to come out late this year or early next year i believe.

<< i don't like how AMD has to stockpile before they announce. >>

Better than Intel announcing in February and not delivering until August 😉

Though I suppose I should be able to sell off my current setup and compensate for some of the cost. Does anyone have any clue if there will be hybrid SDRAM/DDRSDRAM mobo's? That sort of transition would be much easier on my wallet. 😉

D'oh. 🙂

I'm looking for dual 760s as well; I'm in need of an upgrade pretty bad. Both video/CPU.

Ah well. Maybe there will be dual 760s in the future.

The 760 and 760MP are different chipsets. MP=multi processor and will come out after the 760. January would be a good guess. I think the 760 is strictly ddr.

Unfortunately so naughty. The situation ain't too hot on the Intel side either but there are some out there based on the via chipset that can do dual processors. At my work we use dual processor slot 1 tyan mobos with two P3's and they smoke pretty dang good for encoding video which is the main thing our comp's are built for.

On the AMD side I would tend to agree with most others that it will probably not be until January that we see the Dual proc socket-a mobo's. I would not count out a possibility that they may have some built in capablility to allow a motherboard manufacturer to include DIMM's for both DDR and reg SDRAM, but I would think it is somewhat unlikely. AMD is aiming these at the server market and high end applications where the DDR is needed most.

lets see.. yeah DDR mobo's won't begin to show up I think till December, we'll see a few in November.

AMD and ALi will be the first out of the gate, with ALi's chipset supporting both normal and DDR SDRAM. Via who knows when, becuase they're putting the Intel side as their priority right now..
