Dual Athlon Query

This Christmas I plan on treating myself by going dual athlon mp in my main personal workstation; I'm a power user and am actually going to make use of the extra horsepower.

My question, well, more like call for opinions, is do I just plop down for the fastest Athlon XP's in my price range, or is it worth my while to actually go for the Athlon MP XP chips. I'm well aware that there's really not much of a difference in the two products, however I have seen how the MP type chips do perform better clock to clock and may bring me a bit more stability than the generic XP chips do... but is it worth the price difference?

Stability to me is the paramount concern; crashing or flakiness is unacceptable and i'm more than willing to take a speed hit to not potentially risk that.

Where did you see that? MP and XP are the same chip - why would one perform better than the other?

You can overclock your MP easier. They are unlocked already. But unless it is a server I think XP is what you need. Unless you have an excessive amount of money!

For a dual, go with the XP. The tyan dual boards are somewhat lacking in overclocking options, so a faster chip will benefit you more than an overclockable one.
