dual antenna wireless router better than single??

i'm seeing both single and dual antennas selling for wireless routers. is there an increase in performace for a dual antenna?

The term is Diversity Antenna.

If two units are exactly the same the one with Diversity Antenna will perform better in Omni Directional Setting.

However (as an example) the old Speed Stream Wireless Router has One 5.5dbi Antenna which yields better performance than 2dbi Diversity ?Sticks?.

In other words you have to look at the total performance of the device and not the Antenna.
