Dual 7950 GTs vs Single 8800GTS

I'm currently running with a single 7950GT

I was curious if buying another one or selling my current one and upgrading to a BFG 8800GTS OC2 640 mb version (http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...No=2935587&CatId=2514)
would be more economical. Would the dual 7950s or the single 8800 GTS get better performance? (assuming running windows xp/dx9)

if the 7950gt can play most of ur games then i would wait. wait at least till the 8800gt and the r670 come out. there is supposed to be a refreshed gts with 112 shaders too. and the prices on the current gts' might go down. i think its about a month away before those 2 cards come out (dont rember exactly)

oct 29 for 8800 gt and nov 12 for rv670. both of those cards should be at or near current 8800gts 640 performance with significantly less heat and lower, less power consumpion, and lower cost. the new 8800gts is going to have more power, too, so even if you go that route wait for it to hit the market. You could also get a deal on an "older" 8800gts as the new ones arrive, so you basically can't lose if you wait a month or so.

by the way, do NOT go for 7950gt sli unless you can get another 7950gt VERY cheap. In almost any conceivable scenario you'll be better off with one of the aforementioned cards instead.
