Hello,

I building my first SMP... Moded Dual AMD XP 2600+ Barton 1.9Ghz Socket A 333mhz. But can not find an AMD board that's higher than 266Mhz?under clocked. What am I missing?

I'm at ends here; Any suggestions folks??? Or maybe there's a way to change the capacitors on the board...

?I have not bought the board, yet.

Thank you in advance.

You are missing the fact that the Athlon MP platform is FSB266, period. If you look at the actual Athlon MP processors offered, you'll find that even the Barton 2800+ are FSB266.

Hmmm...

So, they don't make higher performance boards for lower-end chipsets? Or, MPs don't go higher than 333mhz?

In any case, what board would you recommend for the afore mentioned Chipsets; and, what's the next step up?

Thanks for your input.

Again, Athlon MP platform uses 133 MHz for CPU and RAM busses, resulting "FSB266" and "PC2100" speed grades. The only chipset for dual-Athlon is AMD's own 760MPX, doing exactly that. The bus speed hype of the single-CPU commodity boards simply wasn't duplicated here in the serious-workhorse arena. In return, you get a second, fast PCI bus at 66 MHz w/ 64-bit slots. And you should use "registered" DIMMs rather than commodity "unbuffered", again a stability thing.
