Hi,

I just got an email from CompGeeks saying this is back in stock. These can be a little hard to find and this is a pretty good price.

Previous, archived post. Not technically considered a repost any longer, due to fact the original post was made more than ten months ago.

Excellent enclosure. Then, and now. However, the newer version of this enclosure (ie, the one ComputerGeeks is not selling) makes use of the more up-to-date version of the Oxford 911 Chipset, which supports the ATA6 standard, ATA133 compatability, and 48-bit LBA addressing allowing for drives larger than 137GB (tested with drives up to 300GB).

Where online can you find the newer version of this enclosure? I did a pricewatch search for the one at Compgeeks, but came up with nothing. thanks, robert

edit: how much is this newer version costing....and best price?

Yep, I actually first found the enclosure with your thread last year. I waited too long, though, and eventually wound up buying a cosmetically different enclosure on ebay. It works quite well with 2 120gb drives and is plenty fast enough for archiving media. Forgive me for not mentioning your post-I haven't figured out how to search so far back yet.

my friend has one of these. it works great, but not really a good portable solution. i'd suggest getting one for 1 hdd only. sorta like those 11lb laptops vs the super light 3lb ones. it's each person's preference.

Several "eBayers" offer the newer version. Will not make mention of which ones or where as that would violate the "Hot Deals" forum rules. A rudimentary search should yield the results one is seeking.

The 5.25" version of this enclosure (as mentioned in prior thread, courtesy of JPSJPS), which supports all the newer ATA standards which includes drives over 300GB, is available from SunshineStor.
