im getting an abit-is7 "springdale" motherboard to go along with my p4 2.4c. this motherboard seems to supports dual channel memory. what exactly is dual channel? sounds like something that can boost speed. and which would be prefer with this motherboard, 2 256ddr400 sticks or 1 512ddr400 stick (looking to buy geil or corsairs ram)? many thanks

dual channel theoretically doubles memory bandwidth. it shows very nice performance increase with springdale/canterwood chipsets. i think your best bet would be 2*256

Yep. If you don't plan on upgrading memory for awhile (ie. to 1 GB) and you're getting a Springdale (I think that's i865) or Canterwood (i875) then definately stick with dual channel, which would be 2 X 256MB.
