Dual 2001fp

I have dual 2001fps w/ 9800 pro (one dvi. one analog) and im looking to get a dual dvi card soon but was wondering is it possible to stretch any mpeg, avi, divx or even a dvd to span across both screens. If so is there any additional hardware or software that i should buy?

nVidia has span mode which i belive allows you to do that, but i dont know if it also supports dvd's

ATI has no horizontal or vertical span support. If you are going to be doing any dual monitor business, NV is your best bet.

Maybe i´m wrong but with 2 20" lcds a bigger problem is that this card has a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 so it forces you to use resolutions in each display different from native 1600x1200.

that´s why Alienware´s video array has attracted so much attention.

...but maybe i´m wrong.

EDIT: ...and yes, nvidia is now the way to go for dual screen resolution span, it works even for games.

thats the maximum res for each ramdac but there are 2 of them so it'd be fine. with an nvidia card, you would have a virtual (1600x2) x 1200 display, and you can stretch anything across it, dvds/3d/whatever you want. ATi still doesn't support this. but they say they're updating their multimon support soon.

So when you do this with an nvidia card, does a game span both screens? Would it be uber widescreen coolness? Or is only one screen 3d accelerated?

i was hoping ati would support this but i wouldnt mind switching over to nvida or their dual monitor support
