I have the oppurtunity to purchase either another 1901FP or a 2001FP monitor from Dell. I currently have one 1901FP already. Which would be the better buy?

Im making assumptions here which may or may not be valid so it might take a little bit of research your end.

If the specs are equal (DVI/VGA, response time etc.), then do you need an extra 1" size? Will the resolution used on the 20" monitor be acceptable or would a 19" display it better?

If you are happy with your current 19" and the price difference between 19" and 20" is signifigant (personal preference), then I would buy a second 19" and pocket/spend the rest.

Sorry if Im not too helpful. Its all I can think of at this time of the morning.

well I believe the 2001FP is considered an all around better monitor, especially since you get a higher resolution and a significant addition of screen workspace (1600x1200 vs 1280x1024)

It depends upon how it is going to be used I would say. If you'd use the screens on differnce computers and the difference in price wasn't an issue, I'd say get the 2001FP

HOWEVER, if you plan on using the screens in a dual screen setup (side by side, perhaps used to extend your desktop) then you might want to consider a 2nd 1901FP. Sure, you'll have more screen space to work with if you pair up a 2001FP and 1901FP, but they wont match up (in physical size and size of the images they display. If you're not picky you might not care but depending upon who you are it might really bug you.

I currently run a 15" (1024x768) laptop screen with an extended desktop on a 21" sun (1600x1200) and don't mind the difference but it works for my application.

I also have 2 - 21" Sun monitors running 1600x1200 extended desktop at work and a really like both screen resolutions matching. It really depends on how much you can adapt the two monitors to suit your needs. I'm considering running a 17" LCD with a 20.1" Dell LCD at home, so for me, I'd get the 20.1 and extend my desktop on it.

Really depends what you do w/ your computer. If you do video or audio editing. Or web development or programming, I'd say having a 2nd monitor would be nice. However, if you are really into gaming then having the 16x12 native on the 20" would be better I would think.
