hello all... I finally got my comuter running with acceptable temps, about 33-35 idle and now I'm trying to put the machine to use be I keep having problems with the memory dumps in windows 2000. Anyone have any ideas? I was told by my local comp shop that I should try installing windows xp... or 98 (how much good that I would I'm not sure since it dosen't have support for dual cpu's) I was also told to defrag my hd but unfortunatly I can't keep the thing running long enough to finish the defrag. I've tried reinstalling win2k, no help. I've tried messing around with the ram, trying each stick at a time in different slots... nothing.
The machine seems to work fine for the first time that I turn it on durning the day but when I restart after that, I keep getting these memory dumps, sometimes it will do if before I have even entered windows and other times it will wait for 30sec to a 1min after windows is done loading and then dump the memory and restart. Is there a setting in these mobo's that I should know about? (tyan s2460 tiger mp)... is it the fact that I'm running 1.4 tbirds and not MP's? Has anyone else that has set up a machine using this mobo have the same troubles? Please... I'm desperate and will try just about anything... Thanks in advance.
