I just bought a powered antenna (philips mant510)to receive more digital channels, but I think it might be killing my dtv boxes.

The first box (both of them RCA DTA800B1) seemed flaky as is, it wouldn't output on the coax line and would restart prior to me buying the antenna. After I got the new antenna the channels were great for a bit and then the box started to freeze more and eventually refused to start without a power cycle and would quickly freeze when trying to acquire a signal. I chalked it up to a bad box and exchanged it for a new one.

The second one (plugged it in last night) was awesome, again all the channels were coming in clearly and did what I wanted it to do. However, this morning I'm noticing channels lagging/skipping pixels, and sometimes getting a black image. The signal strength meter in the menu still shows as high (~65%) and get a clear picture for a little bit of time.

Is this normal? I just grabbed both at walmart and figured they would work fine.

I think the RCA boxs have been gettign bad reviews so could juts be the POS boxs.

Go to Circuitcity and/or radio shack and get the Zenith 901 box.

I had a RCA DTA800B - when I plugged it in one day it would give a orange power light and then turn off. It's like the box would never leave power saving mode. It's been shipped off for exchange. It had some problems with reception too. On some days it would get no signal at all when the Insignia box was fine.

My Insignia box though has been perfect so far.

I'll have to use my other coupon for a different one. Thanks for the heads up.
