Well, I found the Cambridge Soundworks DTT 3500's *in stock* for $236.99 @ Computers4Sure, which is a pretty nice deal in and of itself.

But does anybody have a part number for Staples so I can order it from them? They have the DTT 2500's listed, but I want the 3500's and they don't seem to have them *locally*. But with Staples, that doesn't mean much. So, if you can get a part number and either post it here, or PM me, I'd really appreciate it. I'm dying to get a $40 of $200 coupon with these... :D

I just received these speakers(3500) today from buy.com! You will not be dissapointed! I haven't actually hooked them up to my PC yet but I hooked them up to my TV/DVD in my living room with the 5.1 surround sound and they sound great! I felt like I was in a movie theater! The bass isn't as deep as I would like it but there is enuf to put a smile of yer face. The sound quality is excellent. I can't wait to get these set up on my dvd/sblive5.1 on my pc! Not a bad deal for $233 -$30(coupon). Too bad it wasn't a free shipping weekend!

I was looking at these speakers also. i was comparing which i should get, dtt 3500 or klipsch . and i finally narrowed it down to Klipsch because:
price is about the same
Klipsch has a lot more POWER
sacraficed the surround sound, but i'm using this for my computer, not my television..
brought klipsch from vanns.com for $235, free shipping

And Klipsch is the only THX certified pc speaker system out there. Somehow, THX has better performance and sound vs. AC-3.

Nobody has responded... Would somebody please go to staples.com and see if it is listed for your area. Then PM me the item number? I know it's a lot to ask, but I'd do the same for you. :)

Thanks a lot,

albundyhere, AC-3 is simply the name given to the decoding technology used in Dolby Digital sound reproduction. It has nothing to do with speaker quality, it's simply a decoding scheme. THX certified doesn't mean that a speaker does anything special, it simply means that the THX company has 'certified' those speakers to be up to their standards of quality and that they reproduce sound in THX's desirable ranges.

With home theater hardware, the THX stamp adds a lot to the price and often times not a proportional increase in build quality. It is still helpful in decision making, but THX seems to be looking for money and some say they are lowering their standards.

This seems to be the case with PC speakers, and I would think that a THX stamp on those would be almost meaningless other than to sell to the misinformed who believe that THX is it's own format and not just a standard.

I'm not saying these are bad speakers, I havent ever heard them. Im just saying that the THX stamp should not be what your decision is based on.

Yeah, I have both the 3500's and the Klipsch, both sound great, just different. The Klipsch's are really loud and I added a 100 watt JBL sub to my 3500's and they kick as well. The sub with the cambridge speakers is a little under powered for me, but it does well now. I would buy either one again. My .02

THX multimedia is weak, lets compare it to THX Ultra, or even Select for that matter. :D

If you are using these speakers on your PC, they are great! Comparing them to Klipsch isn't an apples to apples comparison, they both have their strengths..

yeah I agree the Klipsch are way over rated (go to best buy and listen for yourself)... they are nice for games as far as having a mega loud sub, and 4 loud surround speakers.. but for music their mid range is thin... Any Boston Acoustics system sounds much better (while not louder) also the Altec Lansing ADA880 sounds better and they get pretty loud, have an onboard dolbly decoder, nice sub, remote, though they stink in 4 speaker mode (except for DVD playback where the 4 speaker mode sounds good).....

Hi,
I'm pretty sure that staples doesn't carry the DTT3500 yet, so there's no point to asking for it. Your best bet is the just buy it at buy.com. I myself just bought the Midiland S4 7100 from outpost.com for $160 shipped. They just reviewed it here at anandtech but mine is without the dolby digital decoder, it saves about a $100. You really don't need it if you have a sound blaster 5.1. The sound is great a slight weak bass but acceptable. For the money I would highley recommend over the BA4800 just because its a 5.1. The reviews from various hardware sites were positive and I would agree with them. I had the DTT2500 before and these are better but less convienient because the DTT2500 have the little box that you can switch modes instantly.

Ugh please dont buy this solution it sounds terrible compared to the Klips. Sure you get the 5.1 solution but whats the use if it lacks the sound quality.

Outpost.com has it for $249 with overnight shipping.
