DTS Sound Sensation

I'm trying to get my new headphones sussed, so help me out here. Do you prefer DTS on or off for gaming? What about other applications? I read there is a delay that occurs with it enabled, is this true? Thanks in advance for some input.

Some amount of delay for DTS surround sensation is a going to happen because its processing and simulating a wide sound stage with 2 speakers. When I use X-fi surround if it causes a delay it is imperceptible. But the surround effect is much better than using the headphones without it, it fools my ears well enough.

In Windows make sure you set-up the speaker as 7.1 and then set your sound card to headphones with DTS surround sensation. The games will then just utilise it except occasionally you'll need to tell them you have 7.1. Games will then utilise the multiple speakers and your card will do its surround effects using the data passed.

What sound card do you have that provides DTS surround sensation? The X-fi is Creative's custom solution, the Xonar's use Dolby Headphone so how did you get DTS surround sensation natively?

The onboard sound on my motherboard (Asus P8Z68-V Pro) supports DTS ultra pc, DTS headphones, and DTS speaker. I'm only using this temporarily until I can get a new sound card, but I still like to know the ins and outs of it.

The sound delay when using DTS connect on my X-fi is about 100 ms. For shooters I think the delay is fairly noticeable and annoying.
