DST may be changed

NEW YORK -- When daylight-saving time starts earlier than usual in the United States come 2007, your VCR or DVD could start recording shows an hour late. Cellphone companies could give you an extra hour of free weekend calls, and people who depend on online calendars may find themselves late for appointments.

An energy bill President Bush is to sign today would start daylight time three weeks earlier and end it a week later as an energy-saving measure.
I know this was on slashdot a while ago. But Bush will be signing soon will make DST 2 months longer. what do you think. Energy usage will be lower but at the same time there will be a huge expense to fix all this tech.

sounds like a useless PR bill to make the Bush Administration seem eco-friendly. i think the prez just hates waking up when its still dark outside

You'd think these companies would have learned from Y2K. They should just be able to make a couple of changes to account for this. Any company that has 2 brains has their system setup so that a few minor changes will take care of the change.
