DSS-Computer Interface question

I was wondering if there was a way to hook up the input line from a DSS (i.e. DISH network or DirecTV) to your computer. Decoding an MPEG-2 stream isn't that difficult, neither is simulating a smart card. Main purpose would be either watching the stream or tivo like functions.

I do know that dish network uses reguler MPEG2, while directv uses some propriatary compression.

Both are encrypted, both require a proprietary ASIC to hash the video.
