From DSL modem to

SMC 4 port router to (into uplink port)

LINKSYS 4 port switch to (into uplink port)

PCs, and pcs cannot ping the provider

IF DSL modem to

SMC 4 port router to

PCs, all work fine.

Anybody did this??? I was thinking that the cat5 connecting SMCROUTER to LINKSYS SWITCH needs a crossover cable which I did not do, I used a straight thru....
I figure this is all I need since there are uplink ports!!!???

You don't plug the two switches into each other through both uplink ports. It should go.

DSL Modem to Cable Modem router
Cable Modem Router (uplink) to Linksys switch (port 1) with a straight through cable
PC's plug into the ports

You should be ready to rock and roll then.
