Ok, I just got my new DSL package. I just want to know if I have to install the software that came with it. Would it work without the software on the cd?

Yes it will work without installing any of the extra software on the CD.

actually, i installed dsl last week. wouldn't work without the cd, the cd install didn't fix it, had to call tech support and spent a good hour trying various things before it worked.

as long as the purpose of the software isn't to configure the dsl modem/router they sent you should be fine. Either way the software is not required to use the dsl so uninstall it as soon as you are done.

As long as the CD is not labeled AOL, you'll be fine without it.

Well, for Qwest dsl, the cd is used to setup a password/username, thats about it. If you have the password/username then you don't need the cd, just go to 192.168.0.1 in the browser and put the login info somewhere it needs to be 😛

just enter you login info in the modem (or preferably through a router) and you are good to go.
