I have plugged in a jack with 2 wires only and a jack with 4 wires. Both work fine, but I'm just wondering if there is any loss in term of speed if I use the 2 wires jack. Thanks....Oh, phone jack that is ;)

Two Wires

There is also a filter in there, which the DSL company puts in, separating voice from data , er, binary. Bi-nary (I believe there is a 2 in there) ;)

Most DSL uses the same 2 wires as your phone service(will have phone filters usually). However, if you are on what they call a "dry loop" the dsl service uses the opposing 2 wires and phone filters aren't needed. In either case it's only using 2 of the 4 wires.
