DSL Troubles

I'm having a very strange problem with my SBC DSL connection. I use a Linksys BEFSR41 router to split the broadband between my computer and my brothers.

However, it never really works right.

See, whenever I try to go to a page with a lot of data (IE: big pictures, for instance) or when I start a download from a website, it completely dies on me. The connection gets severed, and its damn near impossible to get it back without restarting the computer, modem, and router.

However, this never happens when I have a constant connection going. Like a game. I have to leave a game minimized and connected to a server for my internet to stay on.

My routers firmware is completely up to date. But is there some obscure setting which needs to be tweaked that I don't know about? An oblique feature that i've overlooked?

Maybe its just my crappy DSL.

But either way...I need answers.

Thanks in advance.

I should probably call SBC. Seems I've stumped just about every tech board on the Interweb.

Well, I feel foolish.

I called SBC, and they ran some tests (minus the router), and said it was no problem of theirs, and gave me a number to call Linksys.

So, I call Linksys, and after trying to explain the problem to the guy five times, he tells me to go into the router setup. Upon telling him I have selected "Connect on Demand", he tells me this is my problem, and I switch it to "Keep Alive". He also tells me to turn the MTU to Enabled (not sure what this does).

I KNEW it was a router setting!
