DSL Sharing

I want to share my DSL line.

I know how to share with Win98 SE Internet Sharing Software.
But is there any way, to share my DSL line using just hardware.
I don't want to have to leave my main computer on while using internet on second computer. I want each computer to use my DSL line indepedently.

If you have any way to do it, please tell me. And I don't want to buy any expensive router. I want to be able to do it with hub only.

Thank you.

Who's you ISP and which modem do you have? the reason I ask is because if you're using something like Cisco675 modem then you're in luck otherwise your only choice is to get one extra IP address.

Well your out of luck, and those expensive routers arent too bad, for 80 bucks I picked up a Netgear RT311, and u can hook it straight up to the hub.

If you use a hub then each computer will need an IP address.

That's why people use routers, so all their computers can have internet access using a single IP address.

If your ISP gives you more than one IP, then you can use a $35 hub. Basically, networking your computers via the hub then connecting the dsl modem to the hub.

Key is with your ISP. If they only allow you one IP you have to go with a router, or stick with ICS.

Oh, you need an IP for each computer you want to share with a hub.
