I have Bellsouth Fast Access DSl... PPPoe

as of now the dsl goes into my PCI modem from the phone LINE...

I am looking for a router that will accept the phoneline and allow me to split it to RJ-45... IS this reality or will i have to use a wingate to share? lemme know...

I have yet to see a router like that. You could get an external modem that has the RJ-11 jack and outputs to an RJ-45 jack to plug into your network.

They're out there...

two are the Cisco 827 and the Netopia 9100... they aren't cheap though. I have a Netopia 7100 (or 7200?) that has this config, unfortunately it only does SDSL. Try to see if you can get hold of a DSL modem that will work with Bellsouth (alcatel might) and that will really reduce your expenditures for getting a broadband router.

You won't ever be able to use a converter from RJ11 to RJ45, for two reasons..

A: No such aninal exists, since you can simply click a RJ11 plug into an RJ45 jack. (Don't do it now, however!)

B: The DSL network talks using very specific protocols and technologies that are fundementally incompatible with an Ethernet network. You can't simply plug them together and expect it to work. Kind of like a speaker wire and a 110 volt output. They both use the same type of cable, but you don't want to get them mixed!

You need to get some kind of DSL router. It will take packets from an Ethernet network and convert them to DSL-speak and sent them across the DSL line. You should contact your ISP to determine what kind of routers they support however - Not everything is interchangeable. For example, here in Seattle, you can't plug a Qwest Cisco 678 into a Verizon DSL connection which uses a Fujitsu DSL modem.

A word of advise:

Do not even try splicing out an RJ45 Ethernet cable and an RJ11 phone cable to make an RJ45<->RJ11 converter cable. It doesn't work that way. Phone line has to carry both digital for DSL and analog for voice. The standby voltage is 50V DC, ring is 90V DC. Ethernet operates on completely different protocol and hooking up to phone line wouldn't only fail to connect, but probably fry something on your computer.
