I'm thinking of getting a router to share the current DSL service I have. I have the crappy dail-up PPPoE version, will this work with a router?

On the note of that anyone know of a good DSL service in the LA area that is not PPPoE?

Any help is appreciated.

1. The Linksys BEFSRx1 (where "x" is 1,4, or 8) router will work with PPPoE if flashed to the most recent firmware at the Linksys site. Other routers probably will as well, but I have personal experience with the BEFSR41 and I know it works.

2. Check DSLReports.Com

I'm in LA and I have DSL from DSLextreme.com. The cool thing with them is that all their DSL services (Verizon, Pac Bell, and Covad) all include STATIC IP addresses. Their price for the most basic package is $39 bucks a month. I haven't seen any better deals in LA and I really looked hard..

DSLExtreme has very positive reviews. I will most likely switch from Pacific Bell DSL to them when my contract ends this summer. Thanks.
