What kind of a connection would give results like this?

** Speed 39048(down)/2508(up) kbps **
(At least 780 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

In case you're wondering I just ran it here at work.

*Edit - that was to the Linkline, LA test server

Okay, I used their other test server, Megapath CA and the results weren't quite as favorable:

** Speed 282(down)/1648(up) kbps **
(At least 5 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Got me thinking maybe the first test wasn't reliable so I ran it again (Linkline, LA):

** Speed 35820(down)/2559(up) kbps **
(At least 716 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Linkline:

** Speed 433(down)/224(up) kbps **
(At least 8 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish.

Megapath:

** Speed 268(down)/199(up) kbps **
(At least 5 times faster than a 56k modem)
Finish

Connection is 512/256 ADSL. Not bad considering that the test-server is on the opposite side of the globe! Well, the Megapath results suck!

OMG!! This is the first time I have tested my speed here at work. Check out this link:

My DSL Reports Speed Test

Your download speed : 1326827 bps, or 1326 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 161.9 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 2321981 bps, or 2321 kbps.
Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked?
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

What kind of connection is this? I have never had this kind of speed. Keep in mind the best I've ever had was craptacular @home service.

Tao, my home download speed is faster than that with DSL, the upload, however, i would kill for.

<< 39 megabits on DSL. really? >>

If you read my original post, I'm trying to find out what kind of connection offers this speed because I got the results at work (U.S. Gov't).

DS3 (T3) is 44210 Kbits/second or 44 megabit.

that's what I'm guessin, or could be alot faster. Government is a huge private network and probably exits very close to the test server.

Heh, same with me bunker. I work at a D.O.E. facility and I have no clue what our connection to the outside world is.

And my download speed is almost twice this at home too, but that is with serious tweaking. This is an untweaked system with fresh Win2K SP2 install.
