Speed depends on area. In some areas, cable is just faster, no two ways about it. In others, cable sucks and DSL is faster. I hate cable companies so I don't mind sacrificing a bit of speed w/ DSL. I like my static IP anyway. Makes life very simple.

I pay $44.95 for the exact setup through Verizon.

I think we pay $39.95 for 1.5M/128k ADSL.

edit. i looked up verizon in my area. then only offer 768/128k for 49.95

1 year contract which I am no longer in. They provided 4 static IPs and a free modem.
