DSL question.

I have a 384/128 line with flashcom. Flashcom is going out of business, and i'm forced to go to a new company. Covad is the current supplier to flashcom which in turn supplies it to me. They gave me the option of switching to a direct covad service. Which appears to be a pretty good thing with 1.5/384. But here is the tricky thing, i have adsl service, but was given an sdsl modem. So i'm able to get uploads of 384 and downloads of 384. If i switch to covad direct is there any way with keeping the sdsl modem that i'll be able to get downloads of 1.5 and uploads of 1.5?

BTW, you might be able to get 1.5 sdsl with your current hardware, but expect to pay ~ $400/mo.

I believe your existing modem will not be recognized at the dslam by the new provider, which in english means that no the modem will not work, and more than likely, the new service provider will give you, or have you get thier modem. It's a matter of signals as I understand it, and adsl gives you a certain bandwidth in the download, but the Upload is capped big time, whereas with sdsl, the upload and download are supposed to be the same. But the service is being rpovided from teh same place right? same lines same routers?
