Well, Flashcomm most likely uses Covad.

By Covad, you porbably mean some co. other than Flashcomm that hooks into Covad, no?

That said, by all means stay away from Flashcomm.

got to http://www.dslreports.com and read some reviews.

Bell-Atlantic is most commonly referred to as Hell-Atlantic. In the DC-MD-VA area they seem to suck a little less, bnut from what i've read, service in NYC/NJ is terrible. They use PPOE, have frequent outages, etc. etc.

Best decision I made when I got DSL way, way back in Sept. '99 was to go with a local Covad partner. Even got SDSL for the price of ADSL.

Is this going to be used primarily for surfing, or gaming?

I have recently read that with the new standard (g.lite)Covad (and others) are using, latency has gone up somewhat, i.e 1st ping to gateway instead of being 10-20, is more like 40. But I don't know.

That being said, since i got it i have never had any problem except for 2 times when some Bell-Atlantic equipment failed in a local station.

Good luck.

I called Bell Atlantic the day they announced service, two weeks and no response on my line test!
Flashcomm and Covad sent me a flier with free this or free taht and will hook me up right away!
I do no gaming just surfing!
Thanks for your input!

COVAD definately. From what i hear, you should stay away from flashcom, though. Covad has many ISPs that can hook you up. just go the the covad website and find one.

I looked into Covad. I heard good things about them. They were alot higher than BA, though. I have my DSL through BA and have had no real problems to speak of. In 3 months I have had only one outage, and it was only a few hours or so. At the beginning, it seemed to lag alot, but that was an issue on my end that I have since corrected.
