I'm trying to find out the culprit of a small network causing it to die randomly.
There is a dsl connection and a speedstream 5200 (iirc) modem. Next is a router. Before it was a wired belkin router and now a WRT54G (v5 unfortunately) that I just hooked up 2 days ago.
The internet would not work at first after hooking the router up. I logged into the speedstream modema and turned off the built in DHCP server. The internet then worked great.
What I'm wondering is if I should turn that DHCP back on and turn DHCP off in the router. The previous router had DHCP turned on as far as I know. I really think the modem is bad and the ISP does not want to replace it even though the just rent it.
