2 weeks ago I went from regular dsl with voice service to dry loop. I have the elite service which is 6 mb down, 768k up (at&t dsl).
Since then, its been hell.
I wake up in the mornings and check and i normally get about 5.2 mb/sec down. Around 10 AMish it drops to about 3 mb.. and sometime after lunch until the next morning, I' can only get 800k to 1.2 mb tops, from anywhere.
all this time, my modem sync is at 6016/768k. Signal to noise ratio is great, attenuation is great, power is great, but i still have this problem.
I have a ticket open with AT&T and they are stumped. Both the tech and at&t dsl division claim they have never seen this before and dont know what to do. They've changed my circuit, put me on a new trunk line, swapped out all physical devices in the RT I'm attached to, and going by their line tests, there is no problem between the RT and my house.
I've gone out and plugged into the customer access port on the outside of my house. I've removed all networking devices except the one connection to my pc and am using a new line to my jack and new ethernet cable to my pc. I've plugged in my laptop instead of desktop, used the tech's laptop, same issue.
The tech came to my house and gave me a new modem to try out. He also disconnected the extra wire pairs going to other outlets since we no longer have voice service.
Still not working.
We've done just about everything we can think of over the course of the past two weeks and are at a loss. One other person in town who lives about 8 miles away from me is having similar problems, but we are not in any way connected to each other, either in the RT or C.O. or anything.
Last nights call to me suggested maybe someone in the neighborhood had a ham radio or something they leave on all night until morning. I'm baffled....
I've posted this over at dslreports.com also but havent had any help there.. Any ideas?
