DSL Problem, what is the cause?

Help me track down an issue I am having. I have a new DSL account with SBC yahoo. I am using a netgear FM114P router and set up a dyndns account and entered that info into the router. Problem that I am having is this. Everyonce in a while all internet activity stops. I have to log into the router and go and restart the router. Then all is fine. So what is my problem? Is it the actual router? Is it the dyndns that is making the router freak out? Heck could it be the modem (even though all the lights stay on)? I figure that I can test by plugging in another nic to put the DSL line into (I have a lan) and just use internet connection sharing to bypass the router. But I am running a setiqueue to feed some work computers and I dont want a lot of downtime and am not sure what I would do about the dyndns stuff. Anyway what do you think I should try to rule out first? Thanks.

I get this with my Actiontec DSL router, too, with Qwest DSL. The tech support response was, "you may need to periodically restart the DSL modem to prevent this from happening." Maybe it's a DSL thing.

I was using the latest firmware so I changed to another I found mentioned somewhere and it seems to be holding the connection. I did this last night before I went to bed and when I got up I was able to get on. I have been checking it from work here and I am still able to get to my setiqueue so it looks like that is helping. Will keep my fingers crossed.

If that was the Official response from a DSL Provider that was pure BS. I have not have to re-start my DSL Modem since I installed it in February.

No, that it is not a DSL thing. I am on DSL and have not had the issue. Have you checked the netgear site for troubleshooting information?

I have not dug in too much further since the firmware update seems to have fixed things. I will keep a close eye though, I may try to do some monitoring during the day.

I used to have a problem in my old apartment with my DSL and my refridgerator.... believe it or not. Whenever the fridge kicked on I would loose connection. The only 2 things I could figure out was either a drop in voltage apartment wide or its emitting a frequency interfering with the connection. I no longer live there and my new place works just fine.
