At first, I thought it was sbc's problem and after 2 days, I called them and they tried to help me, but it was no use. Then I tried again and I connected my modem directly to my computer and make a new connection so I have to click connect everytime and it works. Since that works, it must be my router so I bought a new one. The same problem occurs. I get no activity from my modem. I called Belkin for like 30mins, but they couldnt help me. they finally told me to just turn off my computer for 15mins and try what they told me atain, but it still doesnt work...

I dont know what's wrong. not my modem, not my computer, not my router...anyone know?

How many DSL Filters do you have installed in the house. You may be at the fringe of signal strength for the DSL Modem to hold.

SBC Yahoo uses Hop Limiting in many locations and seems to be expanding the service area where they use this restriction. Basically, each device on a network that forwards a request along the path counts as a hop. Hop Limiting restricts the total number of hops from the SBC system to your computer to the number that it would take to get to your computer without a router and will not allow any more hops than that. When you add a router into the mix you no longer have a valid connection to any computers behind the router since the router itself is the last hop allowed by SBC. Unfortunately, if this is what has happened on your connection, there really is not anything you can do that I am aware of apart from asking (very nicely) if SBC will permit one additional hop on your line...

Edit: Definitely check the line filters as Dave suggested, but if they are all installed correctly and you don't have too many of them, I would strongly suspect hop limiting.

ive spent hours upon hours on the phone with both my router company and SBC Yahoo? (not !) , but i finally got them to work....what router are you currently using? if its a D-Link (what i use, cant advice on anything else), upgrade the firmware, the version mine came with, i guess, had some major security hole and it kicked me off atleast once a day (firmware from http://suppot.dlink.com , there might be a hyphen, im not sure)
