Alright I have 2 comps that I want to share my DSL connection with and have them networked together to share files etc... I have the DSL router, 1 Nic in both comps, alot of cable, and a 5 port switch...how do i start?? and If i go to a LAN party and how do I add the IP they will want me to use without erasing the one I have for the DSL/Network??
Will I be using 1IP for the DSL and another for the Network?? Please Explain....Oh and they are both using Win98SE

DSL device -> Router -> Switch -> Computer Systems.

The DSL device plugs in to the WAN port on the router. Then run a patch cable from the ethernet port on the router to the switch, run patch cables from the switch to the systems.

If you are using the DHCP feature of the router, you just plug an additional system in, boot it up, and it's on the network (assuming you have the system configured to for dynamic).

Generic diagram here. (Word doc)

The other alternative is to try the "search" feature. This same question has been asked, as Carl Sagan would say, billions and billions of times.
