dsl modem/router goes into reset loop only after wired cpu turned on

My internet connection will work fine for hours/days wirelessly to Manny Wii ands various mobile devices. The minute my main cpu is turned on, which is connected via Ethernet cable, the router goes into a reset loop that only is only broken by rebooting the modem. Once that happens everything including the wired computer works fine.

2 wire router, at t dsl, wired box is win 7 pro
