Not really a question of need, but just whether I could. Got 8-port switch and 802.11b wireless already connected. Kinda fishing for more bandwidth. Just a thought, given I inherited this second modem.

As others have said, you will only be able to connect with one device at a time.

HOWEVER...

There is one more problem: The unused DSL modem will be an unfiltered device on your line, & will likely have to be filtered/unplugged when the other is in use.

you are gonna need one modem, one router, and one brain that is more intelligent than the one in your head. ;)

don't mean to sound like an ass, but you gotta do some research my friend.

I would think you could do it if you got a 2nd telephone line. It would probably be cheaper to upgrade to a faster speed if that is a possibility.

In most cases, going with faster service is better.
However, if you don't live within the 100 ft or so that requires, you can technically get a second phone line and aggregate the bandwidth. Think of it as SMP for your internet connection.

Dude, you don't have to be an ass, and putting a ;) at the end doesn't make it alright to be just plain rude. This guy's question was not stupid, and he wasn't being an idiot like some people are. He already covered that he had a wireless router, and just wanted more bandwith.

Thanks, BigShooter. Like your quote, too. OK, so I have an issue with Linksys Router connecting to the DSL modem. I was using cable modem and all was fine. DSL is recent and was connecting via USB. Linksys connects as far as modem, but can't get out. I'm on Bellsouth and I tried enabling PPPoE, but it says can't find a server. Bellsouth won't help unless you fork over $$$ for their router. Help? Thanks.
