DSL Modem Compatibility - Please read

Do you know if a Westell DSL modem model 36R515 (Says Bell Atlantic on it will work with another DSL company which is selling the model 36R516? I would think so, but I don't know if they program them somehow to only work with the respective companies like cell phones...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

as long as your new provider uses ADSL, it's fine. the westell modem is a 1 meg, modem. actually, the modem can be used on other types of dsl, other than adsl.

still, I would call your new provider, if you have one, and ask. there are different dsl modems, and not all will work.

modems are not programmed at all. they are just modems. what keeps them from being universal is the implementation of the dsl service. for the most part, we use the g.lite flavor of adsl, which tops at around 1 Mbps. and there are different types and implementations of dsl. so...
