Well lucky me, a month after they sent me an email stating that there was no DSL service in my area, they've made a turn around.

My question is, should I take advantage of their offer? They offer a couple of packages, the two cheapest offers, one free, and the other $10 a month requires me to get an ADSL modem. I don't think I have to buy from them directly ($200) and would probably be cheaper elsewhere.

Since a lot of free internet service providers are packing up or going down the drain recently, should I be worried about them folding up? They do seem to make money from other sources rather than just the ads. They have packages that range from $10 to $35.

By the way, how good is their service? Stable, good uptime? I don't want to drop $200 for crap service even if it's free, or have them go belly up.

By the way, anyone have any ADSL modems to recommend, and where to buy them? I'll probably need some hub too, to connect multiple computers... all new at this.

Thanks...

Ah dang... I should have gotten in on that OfficeDepot Linksys Network in a box deal...

Hope there's some left back home when I get back Tuesday morning. So no one uses this service?

Well, can't really lose I guess. Since my family at home uses AOL.. that's $22 a month. Might as well spring for an ADSL modem and go with the $10 service. Anyone want to recommend where to buy and which modem to get? And it should work with anytime of hub I get right?

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be going with the service. Of the following two, do you think the extra $10 is worth it for the performance increase? My brother and sister aren't that hardcore of internet users...

2. DSL Plus
Also designed for the casual Internet user, the DSL Plus package provides a connection speed of 144 kbps and there are NO banner ads in the Winfire toolbar. You pay only $9.95 per month for service. You access this service with an ADSL modem that can be purchased from Winfire for $199.

3. DSL Power
Best Value - Instant $100 Rebate*
Designed for power users of the Internet who want to surf and download files quicker, and access streaming video and audio. With the DSL Power package, you get access speeds up to 384 kbps and NO banner ads in the Winfire toolbar. Get all this for only $19.95 per month, about what you'd pay for most dial-up service plans that are much slower. All you need to access this service is an ADSL modem that can be purchased from Winfire for only $99 (with rebate offer).

I guess if I were to buy the modem from them (which I don't think I have to) I would pick the DSL Power option since they offer the rebate. But I heard that they are backordered on modems, and I want to make sure I'm set up this winter break before I go back to school.

How are these following modems?

That was just a quick search through a couple of vendors... can someone please help me out???
