:confused:I have Earthlink dsl and i use a D-link DI 614+ router for my three machines.

Two days ago I couldn't connect and tried the ususal: reset, power off, disconnect/reconnect.

i tried to troubleshoot by bypassing my router and connceting the modem directly to each machine--again no connection. I suspected my Eatrhlink supplied Visionnet E300 was dying.

I called Earhtlink tech support and the advanced tech support guy had me run ipconfig which displayed 10.0.0.2 for the default gateway.

He said the modem was directing to that gateway and not Earthlink's, and he had me create a PPPoE bradband connectoid. Well I am now able to connect through one pc, but my network is not usable. He said the modem login was gone and that the modem was damaged--but since I was able to connect they will not send me a replacement.

He said I can modify my router to bypass the 10.0.0.2 and connect to Earthlink, but since I was not paying for their home networking service, he could not provide any instruction to me.

Do I make the changes in WAN setings? I have PPPoE selected and Dynamic PPPoE selected too.

No excuses.....tell them to reset your login info.....then input it into the router....

AFTER you have the modem disconnected for about 10min....
